Media Room >GeoPark and the Colombian Civil Air Patrol provide free health services in Tauramena for the sixth timeTauramena, CasanareJuly 8, 2026 GeoPark has carried out its sixth medical-surgical brigade in Tauramena in partnership with the Colombian Civil Air Patrol (PAC), providing services at both the local hospital and the CIO occupational health center that benefitted some 500 people. In Tauramena alone the partnership has attended more than 3,000 people since 2021, making it one of Casanare’s most enduring rural health initiatives. Among the services provided, 14 women had Pomeroy surgery, a definitive family planning procedure that is difficult for rural families to access. A further 30 general surgery procedures (hernias and lipomas) were provided, along with 25 ophthalmological surgeries for cataracts and pterygium and nearly 480 specialized consultations in optometry, pediatrics, gynecology and dermatology. Gynecological and obstetric ultrasounds were also performed, and prescription medications were issued. In total, 44 health professionals carried out almost 70 surgical procedures and 500 medical consultations. Following up on the optometry care, prescription glasses will soon be issued to each of the beneficiaries. “With this brigade we cut waiting times for our neighboring communities by more than 270 days, and we protected their pockets. The medical care would have cost each family about 800,000 pesos, and here they got it for free. This is how GeoPark turns our local presence into real well-being for families. Thank you to the Tauramena Mayor’s Office and the local hospital for allowing us to come here again, together with the Colombian Civil Air Patrol, where the need is greatest,” GeoPark Nature and Neighbors manager Anibal Fernandez de Soto said. “This is our sixth brigade in Tauramena together with GeoPark, and allows us to go beyond one-off services. We know the needs of the territory and can provide specialized services, which really help the health and finances of families. We are as committed as ever to our mission of bringing free health care to those who need it most, and this partnership with GeoPark shows that well-being is multiplied when the private sector and social organizations work together,” said Pamela Estrada, general director of the Colombian Civil Air Patrol. GeoPark is firmly committed to keep on contributing to the well-being of people in Casanare, and will continue to lead partnerships and high-impact social investment projects.
