GeoPark contributes to the economic reactivation of the Villanueva agricultural sector

Villanueva, Casanare – With the firm aim of contributing to the economic reactivation of Villanueva municipality and supporting hundreds of local agricultural producers in the commercialization of farm products, GeoPark joined forces with the Villanueva Mayor’s Office to hold an agricultural fair last Sunday, called ‘De la Huerta a tu mesa!’ – ‘From the Garden to your Table!’.

In coordination with municipal authorities and under their organization, GeoPark provided the infrastructure where the event was held, in compliance with all protocols established by health authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In this space, people from Villanueva municipality had the opportunity to buy agricultural products from the Casanare countryside.

As well as boosting the municipal economy, the event promoted the reduction of intermediation barriers, fostered the development of rural areas, and promoted food security in the municipality through the supply of food of high nutritional value.

“For GeoPark it is very gratifying to be able to contribute to the development of the Casanare agricultural sector. It is an opportunity to promote projects that contribute to the well-being of the community and the economic and social development of our country,” said Johanna Salcedo, from the GeoPark Neighbor Relations team.

Through the project, GeoPark reaffirmed its commitment to the economic reactivation of the municipalities where it operates and the strengthening of productive sectors for the sustainable progress of its neighbors.
