GeoPark Promotes Environmental Transparency Through Community Meetings in Casanare

These public spaces offered information about the Company’s environmental management, including biodiversity conservation initiatives, water management, and fulfilling the terms of environmental licenses.

To promote transparency and access to information, and to open dialogue with communities and authorities, GeoPark held community meetings at its Cuéntame offices in Villanueva and Tauramena, in Casanare department. The meetings outlined the Company’s environmental management and allowed attendees to express their concerns directly.

GeoPark’s Nature and Neighbors team presented detailed information on mandatory and voluntary environmental investments, highlighting animal protection initiatives, responsible water management, environmental compensation, and compliance with the environmental license. Reflecting the Company’s commitment to fully complying with regulations and its openness to supervision processes, the team also shared details about the most recent visits of the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA) to the Llanos 34 block.

The meetings were interactive, and participants were able to visit different information posts detailing GeoPark’s environmental actions. The Company presented the Environmental Transparency Portal, a digital tool to access updated information on its projects, and on the topic of managing and protecting water the GeoPark team demonstrated the water reinjection process in our operations. The team also shared initiatives for biodiversity conservation, species monitoring and protecting local animal life.

Los encuentros finalizaron con un espacio de diálogo abierto, en el que vecinos de la Compañía y representantes de autoridades locales compartieron sus preguntas, opiniones y expectativas. Al término de estas Jornadas, Fabiola Peña, Gerente Ambiental de GeoPark afirmó que: “La transparencia es clave para fortalecer la confianza con nuestros vecinos. Por eso, además de abrir nuestras Casas Cuéntame para explicar y compartir información sobre nuestra gestión ambiental, lanzamos el Portal de la Transparencia Ambiental, donde cualquier persona puede acceder a información actualizada sobre nuestra gestión ambiental en Colombia”,.

The meetings ended with opportunities for the Company’s neighbors and representatives of local authorities to voice their questions, opinions and expectations. “Transparency is key to strengthening trust with our neighbors. That is why, in addition to opening the doors of our Cuéntame offices to explain and share information about our environmental management, we launched the Environmental Transparency Portal, where everyone can access updated information on our environmental management in Colombia,” GeoPark Environmental Manager Fabiola Pena said at the end of these meetings.
