GeoPark provides study kits to its youngest neighbors in Sucumbios province

Sucumbios, Ecuador – As part of its principles of being good neighbors and with the objective of promoting the education and enhancing the future of its youngest neighbors at the Espejo block, GeoPark has provided study kits to more than 500 families in Shushufindi, Ecuador for children who started a new school year in September.

Accompanied by community representatives and complying with all biosafety protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Company gifted 550 study kits that included a waterproof bag, pens, geometry sets, markers, folders, and a notepad. GeoPark also provided biosecurity items such as alcohol gel and reusable masks, to continue strengthening contagion prevention measures in its neighboring communities.

“With these kits we are contributing to the education of our youngest neighbors, providing them with the basic tools they need in their daily tasks,” GeoPark’s Community Relations Leader Maria Belen Ortiz said at the handing over of the materials in Shushufindi. “Education is one of the fundamental pillars to guarantee sustainable development, which is why at GeoPark we will continue to contribute decisively to make quality education a reality in the territories surrounding our operation.”

In the midst of the challenge that the pandemic has presented to its neighbors and as part of its goal to be a regional development ally, GeoPark will continue to lead initiatives such as these to contribute to the fulfillment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
