Tauramena, Casanare – With the aim of promoting secure areas where neighbors of all ages can make good use of their free time, GeoPark renovated a sports center in La Urama, Tauramena, in Casanare department. A soccer match was held for the inauguration, in which under the watchful eye of more than 200 spectators a team of La Urama residents measured forces with GeoPark workers. The presentation ceremony of the sports center was attended by GeoPark Social Manager Luisa Vargas, La Urama Community Action Board (JAC) vice president Yogul Bohorquez, and representatives of the Mayor’s Office of Tauramena and the Government of Casanare. The new facilities are a contribution from GeoPark that is part of the social investment commitment for the Llanos 34 block. At the opening ceremony, vice president Bohorquez invited the community to make the most of the facilities. “I hope that this project is not just for sports. Here, cultural events will take place where children, adults and grandparents can sit down in a peaceful atmosphere and share with their family,” he said. “It is very pleasant to leave this legacy in La Urama, a village that since 2012 has hosted GeoPark activity,” Luisa Vargas said in turn. “I am sure that this will be a space for sharing, recreation and bringing together our great neighbors in Tauramena”. The renovation of the La Urama sports center is designed to hold over 500 people, who will be able to enjoy sports activities including football, basketball, athletics and volleyball.
