  • The company invited students and teachers of Villa Punta Delgada school to spend a cultural afternoon visiting museums of the city of Punta Arenas.

Punta Arenas, Chile – Under its mission of “Creating value and giving back”, GeoPark makes it possible to carry out initiatives that strengthen the education of children and young people of San Gregorio Commune. For this reason, the Company facilitated the transfer of students from 1st to 8th year to the city, including the tour of museums, with the main objective of providing an additional educational activity outside their daily lives.

First of all, young people participated in different interactive science activities in the sample Awakening of the Senses in Punta Arenas at Mirador Interactive Museum (MIM). This sample is given in the framework of the itinerary program “MIM in your region”, which is done with the purpose of bringing science to those who live outside the Metropolitan Region, contributing to the decentralization of scientific culture and, in this way , to the integral and equitable formation of children and young students from all over the country.

Then, the students toured the Maggiorino Borgatello Museum, where they enjoyed the unique collections of ethnographies, history, flora and fauna of the Patagonian territory. In this walk, young people were able to learn more about their own region.

“For GeoPark it is a priority to collaborate with the neighbors closer to our operations. Good neighbors around the world have some things in common: they value integrity, closeness, trust, respect, mutual help and open collaboration. And these are the values that guide our way of acting” said María Eugenín, GeoPark Community Relations Coordinator.
