Since 2017, more than 8,300 people in Casanare have benefited from this partnership that gives free and timely access to specialized medical services.

To support its neighbors’ well-being and improve their living conditions GeoPark partnered with the Colombian Civil Air Patrol (PAC) to deliver another free of charge medical-surgical brigade in Tauramena, benefiting more than 400 people. The Tauramena Mayor’s Office and the local hospital supported the initiative.

The visit on June 27-28 included medical consultations in specialized areas such as gynecology, ophthalmology, pediatrics, optometry, ultrasound and family planning, in addition to outpatient surgical procedures in different specialties. More than 40 volunteer health professionals participated, providing 475 medical consultations, performing 72 surgical procedures and issuing more than 230 pairs of prescription glasses.

GeoPark and the PAC have now carried out six medical brigades in Tauramena, consolidating a comprehensive care model that helps to close gaps in rural communities’ access to health services, especially in relation to distance and the availability of specialists.

“Facilitating access to basic health services is a critical part of improving our neighboring communities’ living conditions. This is why we work with the Colombian Civil Air Patrol to bring specialized care to hundreds of people who need it. We thank all the volunteers for making the event possible, the Tauramena Mayor’s Office and the local hospital for their support, and the Colombian Civil Air Patrol for being a key partner in this mission to bring health and well-being to the territory,” GeoPark’s Director of Nature and Neighbors Anibal Fernandez de Soto said.

“Together with GeoPark, we are bringing quality care and services to those who need them most,” Colombian Civil Air Patrol general director Pamela Estrada said. “Events like this change lives through providing quality medical services and reducing barriers, ensuring that remote populations can access dignified and timely care.”

The latest medical-surgical brigade underscores GeoPark’s commitment to sustainable development and high-impact social investment in the territories it operates in, through initiatives that improve its neighbors’ quality of life.
