GeoPark, a leading independent energy company in Latin America, has joined the Oil & Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC), a global initiative launched at COP28 and endorsed by companies representing around 40% of the worlds oil production. By signing the Charter, GeoPark joins a select group of companies that are leading the sector’s climate transformation by adopting ambitious and verifiable commitments to reduceemissions.

The OGDC the oil and gas industry’s leading and most demanding international decarbonization framework sets out a clear roadmap for oil and gas companies to achieve net-zero Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, near-zero upstream methane emissions by 2030, and zeroroutine flaring by 2030 in operated activities.

Through the OGDC, GeoPark joins the conversation in which global companies are defining the highest standards of decarbonization, allowing the Company to align with best practices in measurement, monitoring and transparency. GeoPark will furthermore be able to accelerate its emissions reduction process, improve methane management and strengthen energy efficiency in its operations by accessing technical knowledge, advanced technologies and comparable methodologies.

GeoPark’s track record of operational discipline and rigorous emissions management made joining the OGDC possible. Interconnecting the Llanos 34 block to Colombia’s national power grid, incorporating solar energy, optimizing processes to reduce energy consumption, and implementing its leak detection and repair (LDAR) program have allowed GeoPark to sustainably reduce emissions to beneath the global oil and gas sector average, supporting its membership of the OGDC coalition.

“Joining the OGDC recognizes the journey that GeoPark has already made and also reflects our ambition to continue growing aligned with global standards and with a serious, technical and rigorous commitment to decarbonization, GeoPark’s Sustainability Director Santiago Martinezsaid.

GeoPark signs the Charter at a key moment as it strengthens its strategy of protecting its core business in Colombia and returning to growth through the recent incorporation of two operated blocks in Vaca Muerta, Argentina. Achieving this vision depends on managing assets with varying emissions profiles and demonstrating reliable, safe, and low-emission operations.

Joining the OGDC underscores GeoPark’s commitment to cleaner and more efficient operations, contributing to the transformation of the energy sector both in Latin America and globally.
