GeoPark Suppliers Strengthen Their Human Rights Commitment Through Guias Colombia

Eight GeoPark suppliers took part in the “Strengthen your company: Human Rights in Action” program organized by Guias Colombia, a multi-stakeholder initiative that promotes responsible business practices. Coordination between the Ideas para la Paz Foundation and seven anchor companies – the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, Ecopetrol, Frontera Energy, GeoPark, Parex Resources, Promigas and Grupo Vanti – made the activity possible.

One of the participants was CiberC, which provides technological services for GeoPark. Reflecting on the importance of integrating human rights into its operations, the company’s Global Manager of Continuous Improvement, Gustavo Sanchez, said: “Although we are a technology company, we recognize our social impact and have decided to adopt a human rights approach to strengthen our management system.”

The program was held between May 15 and June 12 in Bogota, and combined theory, practical workshops and individual tutorials. Participants created internal policies, risk matrices, and specific plans to address potential human rights challenges.

“For GeoPark, respect for human rights is a shared responsibility with our value chain, which is why we thank Guias Colombia and our partner companies for joining in and backing our continued collaboration in academic exchange while working together in practical cases to make our commitment to responsible action more visible,” GeoPark’s Sustainability Leader Maria Luisa Villa said.

The program is part of a training process that Guias Colombia has been developing with some of its member companies. Last year the initiative was implemented in Casanare, where more than 50 suppliers to the oil and gas industry took part.

GeoPark will uphold its commitment to respect human rights and will continue to work with its value chain to ensure responsible operations that prioritize safety, environmental protection and the promotion of equality, inclusion and diversity.
