Media Room >GeoPark to Invest 26 Billion Pesos in Four New Social Investment Projects Through Works for Taxes MechanismBogotá, ColombiaMay 6, 2025 Investments of over 57 billion pesos benefit more than 30,000 people in Casanare, Meta and Putumayo since 2021 GeoPark continues to strengthen its commitment to the territorial development of Colombia’s regions through new projects under the Works for Taxes mechanism, approved by the Territorial Renewal Agency (ART) together with the respective Ministries of Education and Transport. Approved investment in 2025 is over 26 billion pesos and will benefit more than 22,400 inhabitants of ZOMAC municipalities (Areas Most Affected by Armed Conflict) in Casanare and Meta departments.GeoPark will carry out its first project in Meta under the Works for Taxes mechanism, providing cultural implements to seven schools in Puerto Gaitan to support education.Three initiatives were approved in Casanare, where GeoPark will pave 2.1 kilometers of the road connecting the village of La Venganza in Tauramena with the Marginal de la Selva highway, repair the La Tarquena bridge over the Tacuya River in Tauramena in partnership with Parex, and provide equipment to 21 rural schools in ZOMAC municipalities to improve educational quality.These new projects are in addition to GeoPark activities in 2024, when the Company invested more than 18 billion pesos in initiatives that today benefit more than 5,600 people in Hato Corozal, Paz de Ariporo and Monterrey. As a result, the Company will provide solar photovoltaic solutions to over 1,000 rural homes and infrastructure improvement works to 39 schools in the coming months.In Putumayo, as a result of more than 13 billion pesos investment through the Works for Taxes mechanism, GeoPark provided equipment to 39 Child Development Centers (CDI) of the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare and 168 school canteens, improving the quality of life of more than 8,000 children and their families.“We firmly believe that energy boosts economic growth and is a powerful tool for social transformation.
