Our Environmental Commitment in Action

We promote initiatives that safeguard water and biodiversity through various approaches, including conservation, education, restoration and participatory science.

GeoPark Socio-Ecological Plan

Developed together with the Humboldt Institute, the plan focuses on identifying nature-related impacts and dependencies, assessing landscape resilience and designing nature-based solutions.

Construction of the WWTP in Caribayona, Casanare

Infrastructure project that reached 90% completion in 2024 and will improve basic sanitation through a US$ 2.9 million investment.

GeoPark and Villanueva Mayor’s Office Near Completion of Caribayona Sewers and Wastewater Treatment Plant

Llanos 34 and Putumayo biodiversity project

We contributed more than 88,000 biodiversity records from these regions to SiB Colombia and GBIF, which have been used in more than 230 scientific publications.

Participatory wildlife monitoring in Block PUT-8

Together with local communities in Putumayo, we monitored birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles, and with the Humboldt Institute we carried out bioacoustic monitoring.

Tauramena Green Classroom, Casanare

We provided the first environmental education classroom built under bioclimatic principles, achieving a 49% smaller ecological footprint compared to traditional classrooms.

GOVERNANCE OF WATER AND BIODIVERSITY

Clear Responsibilities, Purposeful Decisions

Water and biodiversity management is supported by a governance scheme that stretches from the Board of Directors to technical teams in the field. The Strategy, Sustainability and Legal Area sets strategic guidelines and leads the supervision of the system, while the Environmental and Nature and Neighbors areas implement actions, monitor indicators and ensure compliance with our standards.

Meets at least twice a year and is responsible for approving the Company’s Sustainability Framework and supervising the progress of action plans on environmental material issues, including the responsible management of water and biodiversity.

The highest executive level positions with responsibilities for water and biodiversity management. The Strategy, Sustainability and Legal Area reviews and monitors the environmental management system annually.
