Media Room >Casanare Governor and Tauramena Mayor Visit Development Projects with GeoParkCasanare, ColombiaMay 19, 2025 Presidents of Community Action Boards from neighboring communities also participated in the visit, which highlighted the positive impact of road, environmental and operational infrastructure promoted by activities in the Llanos 34 Block. The Governor of Casanare, Cesar Ortiz Zorro, and the Mayor of Tauramena, Javier Alvarez, visited GeoPark operations in the Llanos 34 Block in southern Casanare and strategic works in the surrounding area on Friday. Presidents of Community Action Boards of neighboring communities and technical teams from the regional Government and the Mayor’s Office also attended the activities. The visit showed the coordination between the Company, local authorities, and communities to develop projects that improve people’s quality of life, strengthen public infrastructure and promote sustainable development in the area.Starting at the Tigana B camp, the GeoPark team presented operations at Llanos 34, one of the main blocks in the country and GeoPark’s most important asset in Colombia. GeoPark’s guests then toured facilities and visited the Caribayona Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) that the Company has financed, and which improves sanitary conditions in Caribayona and protects the water quality of the Tua River. The tour included the official opening of the Vara-Soceagro road after resurfacing works to which GeoPark voluntarily contributed over 14 billion pesos, and which allows dozens of rural families to access goods, services and markets. The authorities also reviewed the progress in the structural strengthening of bridges, including one over the Tua River, and were present at the donation of construction machinery to Tauramena, increasing the municipality’s operational capacity. The governor of Casanare, Cesar Ortiz Zorro, said that “This is the best example of what can be achieved when authorities, companies and communities work together. The projects we saw today are the product of dialogue and cooperation and show that the development of southern Casanare is possible when we take the same path.”“At GeoPark we believe in the power of partnerships to transform territories,” GeoPark Nature and Neighbors Manager Anibal Fernandez de Soto said. “This visit allows us to share the progress we have made together with authorities and communities in works that benefit communities. It is satisfying to see these projects’ solid progress, which result from community consultation and dialogue, and help improve our neighbors’ living conditions.”This visit ended with a meeting with local media in which authorities and GeoPark representatives underscored their commitment to continue working together to close development gaps.In recent years, GeoPark has invested more than 24 billion pesos in road improvements in Casanare and in 2024 alone allocated more than 20 billion pesos to socio-environmental projects, of which 82% directly benefited rural communities. These actions are part of its strategy to create and share prosperity, putting energy at the service of regional development, and promoting positive and long-term impacts.ABOUT GEOPARKGeoPark is a leading independent energy company with over 20 years of successful operations across Latin America and which has been listed on the New York Stock Exchange since 2014.
