Through coordinated public and private sector work, people in the south of Casanare have better roads that lead to the strengthening of the local economy and facilitate access to education and health services.

Tauramena, Casanare –  As part of its commitment to Create Value and Give Back, GeoPark, in conjunction with the Government of Casanare and the Mayor’s Offices of Villanueva and Tauramena, has officially delivered the paving works of 128 kilometers of public roads in the Llanos block 34, operated by GeoPark since 2012.

The official ceremony was held at the Sports Center in La Vigia, Tauramena, and was attended by representatives of the Government of Casanare, the mayor of Tauramena, municipal councilors, Casanare residents and social leaders, and representatives of GeoPark.

Casanare Government Public Works Secretary, Engineer Hector Miguel Gonzalez, highlighted the importance that this type of project has on improving communities’ quality of life. He also praised the public-private partnerships that GeoPark has been part of for the development of high-impact projects in the department.

In addition to contributing to Casanare’s socioeconomic development, the road paving greatly benefits the environment through eliminating particulate material emissions and the use of water to suppress dust.

GeoPark Social Responsibility Manager Luisa Vargas expressed her gratitude to the community, as well as to the Mayor’s Offices of Tauramena and Villanueva, and to the Government of Casanare for trusting GeoPark to be a partner in the department’s socioeconomic development.

The Government of Casanare contributed 69 billion pesos and GeoPark over 49 billion pesos to the project to pave all the internal roads in the Llanos 34 block.
