Bogota, Colombia – GeoPark has joined IPIECA, the global oil and gas industry association for advancing environmental and social performance. On becoming a member, the Company emphasizes its commitment to develop, share and promote environmental, social and governance (ESG) best practices.

IPIECA was founded in 1974 after the creation of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and since then it has been the industry’s main channel of communication with the United Nations. Through working groups led by its management team, the association brings together the knowledge and experience of more than 45 companies that represent over half of the world’s hydrocarbons production.

The association helps the oil and gas industry improve its environmental and social performance by:

  • Developing, sharing, and promoting good practices and solutions.
  • Enhancing and communicating knowledge.
  • Engaging members and others in the industry.
  • Working with key stakeholders.

Since 2020 GeoPark has prepared its “SPEED/ESG” Sustainability Report according to IPIECA standards, and other reporting frameworks. Through participating in different forums of the association and contributing to the preparation of reference documents, the Company will continue to implement the best socio-environmental practices to ensure the sustainability of its operations.
