GeoPark reaffirms its commitment to respecting human rights

Bogota, Colombia – GeoPark respects and promotes the human rights of its employees, contractors and the communities that neighbor its operations. The Company firmly believes that respect for life and integrity, the generation of spaces that encourage dialogue, citizen participation and freedom of expression are fundamental conditions to ensure the healthy and peaceful coexistence of everyone in the country.

In compliance with the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, GeoPark has implemented strategies to ensure that all its operations in indigenous territories follow the prior consultation process and are carried out under the provisions established in ILO Convention No. 169. In this way, the Company conducts its operations in compliance with the highest industry standards on human rights and security.

Since it began its operations in Colombia, GeoPark has developed an early management system to comply with due diligence in its operations. One of the most important pillars of the system is the permanent identification and evaluation of risks to prevent negative impacts derived from its operation on its stakeholders.

Additionally, through the Cuéntame program, the Company guarantees the attention, registration and resolution of all requests and complaints from its neighbors. Through this, GeoPark identifies the possible impact that a certain complaint or situation may have on a fundamental right, and defines the appropriate response or remediation mechanisms for each case.
