More women in top jobs, a guarantee of higher growth

The gender gap in boards of directors persists despite studies and rankings showing that companies with women in senior positions make higher profits. In 2020, for the first time, Aequales demonstrated in Latin America several findings of US and European firms about corporate behavior when increasing female participation in senior positions.

“The most important thing about corporate gender equity is that since it does not happen naturally, it is important to have goals, but to get there you have to carry out a lot of additional activities,” according to Aequales. For example, Marcela Vaca Torres, General Director of GeoPark in Colombia, adds that “simultaneously and with a broader vision, it is crucial that we continue to promote the interest of girls and young women to study STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). That’s the way to strengthen female participation in the main productive sectors.”
