Media Room >GeoPark Wins Award for Human Rights Leadership and Responsible Business ConductBogotá, ColombiaJune 13, 2025 The Company received acknowledgement for its structural, preventive and participatory processes, designed to promote respect for human rights and support the sustainable development of the territories it operates in.GeoPark, a leading independent energy company with more than 20 years of successful operations across Latin America, won first place in the Human Rights and Responsible Business Conduct category at the Colombian Oil and Gas Association (ACP) 2025 Hechos de Sostentibilidad Awards.The award, presented during the fourth edition of the Hechos de Sostentibilidad forum, acknowledges the strength of GeoPark’s structural, preventive and participatory Human Rights System, which exceeds regulatory requirements, promotes respect for human rights, and contributes to the sustainable development of the territories the Company operates in.“GeoPark starts from respect for human rights being the basis of the relationship with our stakeholders. This award validates a model that we built around our stakeholders’ expectations, ensuring that it is context-sensitive and focuses on prevention,” GeoPark’s Director of Sustainability, Santiago Martinez, said.Results of responsible managementIn 2024, GeoPark strengthened its Human Rights System by incorporating new expectations from stakeholders and updating its Human Rights Policy to further align it with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.It also strengthened its due diligence process with tools to identify risks and impacts, and reinforced controls and mitigation actions. GeoPark raised awareness among all its business partners about its approach to human rights and trained all its new suppliers in the subject.GeoPark’s Human Rights System has four mechanisms to manage potential human rights impacts: the Ethics Hotline, the Equality, Inclusion and Diversity Committee, the Coexistence Committee, and the Cuéntame grievance mechanism. In 2024, Cuéntame handled 855 cases with a 95.9% resolution rate.Additionally, GeoPark holds Meetings for Transparency, where it reports annually to communities and authorities, and the informal Friendship Coffees that identify early needs and stakeholder concerns in the territories where the Company operates.In 2024, the Company also defined new protocols for sensitive contexts, specifically in terms of ethnic relations and the protection of people at risk or under threat.Business conduct with a real impactIn line with its commitment to contribute to safeguarding human rights in the territories it operates in, GeoPark created 3,551 local job opportunities, integrated 228 local suppliers into its value chain, and invested US$4.8 million in socio-environmental programs that benefited more than 112,000 people.Its investment projects are based on participatory diagnoses and focus on closing structural gaps. An example is the Weaving Knowledge: Knowledge and Action for Conservation program, developed together with ABC Colombia, Somos Territorio, which promotes the right to a healthy environment and strengthens local environmental governance.
