To continue promoting the Puerto Asis economy by strengthening local businesses, GeoPark subsidiary La nueva Amerisur and the Putumayo Chamber of Commerce have launched the second phase of the ‘Emprender y Crecer’ entrepreneurship program.

To preserve strategic ecosystems and promote the protection of biodiversity in Casanare department, GeoPark partnered Corporinoquia, the Orinoquia Biodiversa Foundation (FOB) and the community of La Urama to hold a territory conservation project that ended with an environmental festival to increase knowledge about local biodiversity.

In acknowledgement of GeoPark’s long-standing commitment to its SPEED value system, in 2024 MSCI recognized GeoPark as an ESG ‘leader’ by further upgrading its rating to “AA” (GeoPark was rated as “B” in 2018, “BB” in 2019, “BBB” in 2021 and “A” in both 2022 and 2023).

The award was for oil and gas exploration and production company GeoPark’s efforts to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in its operations, through implementing an emissions reduction plan with specific goals that contributes to the fulfillment of the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of the countries where it operates.

Leading Latin American oil and gas exploration and production company GeoPark is Colombia’s fourth most responsible company in the Hydrocarbon Production and Fuel Distribution sector, according to the 2023 Merco ESG Responsibility ranking.

GeoPark team carried out activities in the schools to raise environmental awareness and highlight the importance of preserving the environment, strengthening the connection between education and environmental responsibility from an early age.

The importance of coordinating work on the transition to cleaner energy sources in rural areas was one of the topics discussed by Minister Camacho, the Ministry’s Hydrocarbons Director Adwar Casallas, and other senior Ministry officials in their visit to the Llanos 34 Block, located in the south of Casanare department and which produces 7% of Colombia's total oil production.
